Gott approached Kat's bedside, holding a tablet computer in one hand, while Jack stayed a couple paces behind. "How do you feel, Lieutenant Argo?" Gott asked.
Kat heard her own voice for the first time in nearly a year. "I...I feel okay. Good."
"No pain? No discomfort?" Gott said, staring at his tablet.
She shook her head. "None."
"Excellent. You may get up."
"But," she started, looking down at her arms and legs held to the bed frame with thick leather bonds.
"Show Mr. Halson here just how special you are," Dr. Gott said.
