Peter and Frankie had been the guardians of Barry Graves since he was a baby. When he was younger, they had enrolled him in various public schools, but he began to change in appearance and size a bit too rapidly once he reached puberty, and they began to home school him. Barry didn’t mind so much, as he ended up traveling much more with the twins. For his part, Barry always knew they weren’t his real parents. They were always very forthcoming with him. But they were always there for him, the family he needed, to bandage his scrapes, teach him about the world, and offer words of wisdom and encouragement.

Paz caught Barry staring at her from across the table, that goofball grin on his face again. Between bites of apple she said, “What’s your problem?”...
