the screen blinked on to reveal a video player. He said, "We have been tracking an increase in the number of these possessions over the past few years. This happened in Rio de Janeiro just a few weeks ago." He touched the screen and the video played.

The video showed an eclectic-style edifice in downtown Rio, on a corner encapsulated among much taller white apartment and business office buildings. It was the middle of the night. Yellow taxi cabs rolled past as throngs of pedestrians moved through the cross-streets under sodium street lamps. Neon signs shone down each road, advertising "Bebidas Gratuitas para Meninas" and "Churrascaria", all of which had lines stretching in front of them on the sidewalks full of teens and young adults waiting to get into either a pulsating dance club or a grill...
