Fate Sealed

Brian rubbed the freshly tattooed skin as he sat at the diner, waiting for his food to come.  He tried to forget what the artist told him, but his words were still ringing in his ears.  He couldn’t shake what he said about his choosing to help a girl would lead to his death. 

The waitress stopped at the edge of the table and tipped the coffee pot so that the coffee filled his cup.  “You okay Brian?  You look frazzled?”

He listened to her words.  He didn’t return her eye contact though.  Instead, he stared down into the coffee, rubbing his arm.  “Tracy, do you believe in fate?”

She paused for a minute before walking away.  “...
