Chelsea and Dylan reigned in at the ranch and dismounted. Dylan led the horses to the large corral, unsaddled them, removed their bridles and turned them loose. He left the tack on the gate and called for one of the nearby ranch hands to put it away, then returned to where Chelsea waited by her truck. He stuck his head in the front door of the large, sprawling house as he went by.

“Mom! We’ll be back in a bit,” he called, then pulled the door shut, not waiting for an answer. “Let’s go.”

They got in the truck and buckled in. Chelsea pulled out of the long driveway and headed towards town. It was a few minutes before either of them spoke.
