“Well,” she hesitated. “He kind of…dumped me.”
“Uh huh,” he encouraged when she paused.
“And – well – I ran off. I didn’t know what else to do.” She began to pace back and forth, her hands jammed into her jeans pockets.
“What was so bad about that?”
“Well,” she stopped pacing and looked at the horses for a moment. “It’s like this.”
She paused for so long, Dylan thought she had changed her mind about telling him anything.
