heart thudded in her chest. Maybe he could. He was bigger than Gregory. That was for sure. A part of her wanted Dylan around all the time. She was so afraid when she was alone. He was throwing her a lifeline. Maybe she should grab for it.

“Well,” she hesitated. “He kind of…dumped me.”

“Uh huh,” he encouraged when she paused.

“And – well – I ran off. I didn’t know what else to do.” She began to pace back and forth, her hands jammed into her jeans pockets.
