The frigid wind bit hard and cut right through her as Jules made her way down the steps of the little plane at the Regional Airport. When her foot contacted the tarmac, she marked that it was the first time in twelve years that she had set a foot back home. She wanted to get on the plane.
The February cold was unforgiving, dry, and malicious. With every breath she took, Jules felt like the freezing air was sucking life from her, pulling away her heat and making it hard to breathe. She shivered and tried to snuggle down deep as she could in her borrowed winter coat. When she’d looked in the closet, she didn’t have anything suitable for this kind of cold.
