and had no idea how close her mom really was, with her sympathy pains.

     She had been his mistress for a little over a year.  She had dealt with his crazy schedule to see him, the drugs, the drinking, his incoherent rants and raves he was prone to, his harsh and cruel cutdowns of his wife, but nothing could have prepared her for this, seeing his picture on tv and the story he had taken his ex-wife’s daycare hostage, with several dead already.  She knew her lover.  This just couldn’t be him!  Could it?

     When other influences didn’t have his mind, he was sweet and energetic, attentive and kind, protective, even.  Her disbelief and belief wrestled with each other, her heart and mind in a battle for control. ...
