I sleep for many days, one day blending into the next. I get up when I’m hungry, eat a piece of fruit, a piece of cheese with bread, then wash it down with warm water from the tap. When I’m full I go back to bed. The phone has been ringing, which is strange, because I haven’t given my number to anyone. I had the phone line put in, because a part of me was afraid of being so completely isolated, without a lifeline to the outside world. Especially after what happened with the man in the pickup, I didn’t feel like being completely alone. What if he came back? He had driven me home after all, so he knew where I lived, thus it wasn’t a completely illogical fear. But I hadn’t given my number out to anyone. I didn’t know anyone to give my number to.
