Ivy stared at the ceiling and wondered if getting up would be worth it. The clock to her side read 5:15AM which meant she had to get out of bed now, get dressed and washed up in five minutes so she could help Sig with breakfast before they both left a few minutes before six. She would head off to the Book Floor which would normally be work she looked forward to.
She hadn’t been looking forward to it for a week.
Ester and Dawn being there to protect her made the shifts awkward. There wasn’t ever the complete silence Ivy liked occasionally to clear her head. The shifting of sand and the crackle of Ester’s white fire would always break the silence but Ivy wouldn’t tell them to go away. She didn’t want to be captured by Dawn’s estranged family.
