“Please don’t say anymore.” Kateri interrupts me, raising a hand between us. “I do not wish to know. And it matters not whether your brother wants to go. Makes It Rain has ordered that he must do so. He will leave in the morning.”

I suck in a breath, unsure yet what I will say when I let it out, but apparently 'it matters not' also.

Kateri blinks at me a moment and nods her head as she sees the realization come into my eyes.

“Yes. Makes It Rain says you and Luke must go as well. You leave at first light.”
