 The two days passed quickly and in much the same fashion. Louisa and I walked in the mornings. We would have liked to have ridden but I had no horse at Cotleigh. Cecily did not ride so the only ladies horse in the stable was Louisa's. She offered to lend it to me but one glance decided me against it. Golden Gypsy had obviously been chosen to suit Louisa's more diminutive figure and I was too tall to look anything other than comical on her. 

 My husband and Harry returned on Friday, just as they'd said. I became even more inclined to the opinion that Hardley had never been after my money when I saw that he'd brought me a beautiful mare.
