I had a lovely dream. I was no longer in the cold, damp woodland but in a warm bed. I was wearing dry clothes and there was a roaring fire in the room. I decided, quite deliberately, not to wake up.
When I finally did, the room and fire were still there. I went over each part of myself in my head and came to the conclusion that, although sore and stiff, I was none the worse for my wild flight. Hopefully, I had been found by some kind-hearted people who were looking after me. But actually I was horribly afraid that I was back in the inn I'd started out at. I should not have thought Lord Hardley would be so easily put off. In truth, perhaps I wasn't quite so upset about being found as I wanted to be.
