Ardent's Contract
By Jordan Dunsmore

Series Description:

Man is bound by it. The world is fed by it.

The grand Contract pulses until the day it expires and man dies.

The Ardent of legend must decide for all.

Tyrants rule while their vassals wield gun and sword. Magic exists that gifts body and mind. Buildings sprout from nothing while men summon destructive elements. Technology is given, for a price that is not quite clear.

All is given by the contract.

Emilyn and Izhan may have shared a womb but their view of the world could not be any more different. The twin brothers have been placed onto the center stage of the city, gifted with the ability to determine its fate.

An undeveloped society gifted with the technology of the future. Vurosis is a paradise to the content, an opportunity to the ruthless and a prison to the disenfranchised. All is granted by the contract, binding agreements that citizens enter into for power and prestige within the city. There is a new revolution being born below the streets. Can an unlikely hero destroy paradise and end the contract forever?

Ardent’s Contract is a story of love, friendship and brotherhood amidst a revolution. It combines high fantasy with strong elements of science fiction. Action, magic, adventure, intrigue, and romance are all present. The culture of Vurosis is explored heavily, bringing its vivid imagery to life.

Author Bio For Jordan Dunsmore:

Born April 27th, 1990 in Quebec, Canada. I reside in Alberta, where I have lived out most of my short life.

You can follow me on Twitter @Impostor_fan

I started seriously writing when I was eighteen. I remember that feeling. Being against the world, thinking my ideas were brilliant, that I would be published in no time. Funny, what growing up does.

I attended Grant McEwan University in Edmonton. I do not possess a degree. For a short time I gave up writing so I could focus on my education, which was for... Insurance.

Yes. Insurance. Of course, giving into outside pressure to find a real job did not pay off in the end. I found myself twenty-two years old, hating the insurance industry, depressed and barely living my life. It was when I was laid off from my job as a claims adjuster that I put pen to paper again. At that point, Ardent's Contract was a story half finished. I had first thought of when I was nineteen years old, it took years of planning the world before I finally put pen to paper and began formally writing it. So at twenty two and jobless, I began writing again.

It took being at my lowest to realize that this was all I was good for. Writing wasn't just my passion, it would hopefully become my livelihood. I was determined.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It has been a long and difficult journey to find a platform to share my writing. Ardent’s Contract was my first major manuscript that I considered publishable and I am happy to be able to share it with you on here. I hope to earn your time, I have worked my entire life to share but a few of my words with you.

Acknowledgements:

I would like to thank Charlotte. For without you, none of this would be possible. I would also like to thank my mother and father, people who put up with me from the very start. My friend Emily who helped edited the earliest drafts of my manuscripts. Janel for always being my fellow writing friend, she is the reason I am on this site. Leo for always listening and doing the symbol art for this series. Finally Logan, my best friend who had to put up with my horrible novel pitches in highschool, back when I thought I was destined for greatness.
