The Harry Potter fans out there may recognize this treat as ones sold at Honeydukes and on the train's treat trolley, but sweet and savory hand pies were around long before Mrs. Rowling put them in her wonderful tales.

The debate these days is whether or not pumpkin pasties (pronounced past-eez) are meant to be sweet or savory, as traditional pasties are savory, but pumpkin-based baked goods tend to be sweet.

My personal opinion tends toward sweet, as I have a killer sweet-tooth, but the savory version is equally tasty. Therefore, I've included both versions here, so you can try each for yourself!
