Apple Pancakes with Cinnamon Syrup

I first encountered this pancake twist on a clear fall morning in the south of Germany, where they are called Apfelpfannkuchen. A mouthful in more than one way. Since we are now entering the height of apple season, this recipe should give you something other than Apple Pie to add to your apple repertoire, and the cinnamon syrup accompaniment is exquisite!
