Today's post isn't a recipe, but an educational edition. In my travels I've discovered that there are an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables that aren't well known in the United States. This has a lot to do with what's most feasible to carry in stores, or what is more popular to advertise. Unfortunately, this leaves a lot of people completely unaware that they can add a huge variety of colors and flavors into their dishes that call for things as mundane as tomatoes or carrots. None of these are artificially dyed or enhanced by chemical process. In fact, many of these have been around for hundreds of years, but due to the fact that they aren't well marketed, many people don't know they exist!
