Even though Jamie wanted to be a doctor, he hated going to hospitals. "Too depressing," he once told me, after making a charity visit to a local children's hospital. "They take you to the cancer ward and you just want to lose it. The sun is shining and these poor kids are inside, hooked up to machines, getting poison put in them while they're just hoping to stay alive. And I don’t know if I’m down for that, having to treat kids and watch them suffer."

Jamie, however, loved going to the zoo. One of my favorite photos of him was one of him at a calendar shoot for his team, in his white home jersey, with a macaw perched on his shoulder as he looked up at it with a peculiar expression.
