Elise sat back on the small tail gunner stool, her heart racing. Never in her twenty-five odd years of life did she think she’d find herself firing guns on another person much less an airplane. Through her headset she heard the triumphant cry of the woman in the top turret as she finished off the fighter then heard that same joy change to concern as the same woman realized there were more fighters coming.
“All gun positions, they’re launching more fighters! Keep them off us!” the captains voice crackled through her headset.
