Captain’s log, 9 March 2158.

Most of the crew are enjoying a weekend off at a theme park while I handle some technical business.

Five shapes dropped from the ceiling, unraveling from thin jump cables. Arynne leaped onto a display case and fired her phaser five times, once at each figure. Then, somersaulting to the ground, she stuck a three-point landing and fired another phaser shot in front of her. The treasure box popped open, exploding with shiny gems and trinkets.

“Time!” The attendant clicked her digital stopwatch. Her eyes grew as wide as moons. “That’s a record! Congratulations! That gets you the top prize!”

Arynne strolled down the ramp behind the android. “What’s your name?” the attendant asked, her head swiveling on its hinges.
