Captain’s log, 22 December 2157.

There is jelly everywhere.

The bell sounded, and Liam trudged out of bed and toward the cockpit. He slid into the pilot’s seat as Arynne got out of it, and settled into the chair with an audible squish.

“I meant to warn you about that,” she said tiredly.

“What did I just sit in?” Liam wiggled in the chair.

“Pepper jelly,” Arynne said. “I’ve been sitting in it for the past four hours.”

Liam eyed her. “Why?”

“Because it’s Christmas and we have a kitsune onboard,” Arynne said. “You remember last year, with the wasps.”

Liam grimaced.

“And the year before, with the mothballs,” Arynne added.
