Things were going really well for Prudence and me for the first few months. Then we reached our first hurdle. Prudence’s mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer. Her dad had just passed away, and she had no other siblings to chip in. She decided it was necessary for her to move back home to look after her mom. Of course I was 100% supportive. It did end up presenting a logistical issue, because her mom lived in Calgary.
