Judith watched as her daughter sat down. Angela was obviously nervous about what she was going to say next. Perhaps she had made it sound too melodramatic. But, it was a bit dramatic. Of course now that she was here, ready to tell her daughter what she knew, she was a at loss for where to start. She took a deep breath and began.
“Angela, I know that the tapes tell you about Mom’s life in the camps. And I realize my journals give you a picture of what our relationship was like,” Judith paused for a second, internally cringing again at the thought of her daughter reading her journals, “but what you may not know, and what my family never talks about, is that one of Mom’s sisters died in the camp.”
Angela let out an audible gasp. “What? What sister?”...
