Judith looked at herself in the mirror. She looked old. At least she felt like she did. The bags under her eyes seemed darker than they had ever been, puffy half circles reminding her of her own mortality. The past few weeks had been difficult to say the least. Ever since her ‘catatonic episode’ (as she called it) Eddie and Angela had been fawning over her, smothering her with help in their erroneous attempt to give her space. She was simultaneously grateful for their love and care and frustrated that they wouldn’t just let her be. Her mother had just died. She was supposed to be an emotional wreck, wasn’t she?
