I pressed my open palms against the navigational table until the wood creaked from the pressure and replied through clenched teeth.
“I did not miss anything. There are no ships out there large enough keep her and Brandon, and double as a floating torture chamber.”
“Then you didn’t go far enough out.”
“I went up to Milwaukee and all the way over to Muskegon. I saw nothing.”
“Either way we’re right back to where we started.”
