polished off the last of his wine as he stood, and offered a dismissive shrug with his answer. “As with most creatures, we are stronger in numbers.”

“Is your father okay with you being rogue?”

“No, but he will not force it to become an issue, until it becomes an issue.”

“When will it become an issue?”

“When he feels it is time for me to grow up.”

“And your mom?”

He smiled fondly as he approached me. The closer he drew, anticipation drove my heart into a faster beat. He took his time and closed the short distance at a languid pace. I’m not sure which I wanted more, for him to move faster, or stop moving altogether and allow me to drink in the sight of him like the wine in my glass.
