“And?”

“Anything tastes delicious when you’re starving. Cat food tastes like filet mignon.”

“Lovely.” He chuckled. “Tough talk coming from someone who has yet to demonstrate any culinary skills.”

“I can cook.”

“Says the woman whose entire contents of her refrigerator consisted of a canister of cinnamon rolls, bologna, and baking soda.”

Despite my effort I felt the corner of my lips curve into a smile. “I can cook, I just don’t like cooking for one. It always seems like a lot of effort just for me.”

“Next time you can cook for me, and we will see how good you are.”
