“It’s rather endearing.”
I turned, surprised to find Komen settled onto the couch with a glass of scotch in hand. He reclined comfortably as if he’d been sitting there the entire time. Lachlan assured me he remained for my protection, but at that moment I found his presence more disturbing, than reassuring.
Lachlan considered him a friend. All I knew of him was that he was a magos, and older than dirt. I didn’t know what a magos was, or what he might be capable of doing. Lachlan felt confident he could protect me against a demon. Which meant pissing him off shouldn’t have been my first priority.
