I heard the muttered insult, directed at me that included my mother, as I rushed out of the enclosed living room, and leapt from the back of the yacht.
Airborne, I stretched my body and let my human vessel effortlessly transform to the graceful mien of my dragon.

I blamed Komen for this.
Technically the blame did not belong on his shoulders. It did not belong on anyone’s shoulder, save maybe the universe for the sick cosmic joke. But part of me, a small part, the superstitious part I denied to others and myself, wondered if Komen had not talked this into existence.
