“But you know something. Even if it’s just general information.”

He nodded. “There are some things we know for sure.  Others that I suspect.”

“I’ll take whatever you have.”

His lids slowly hid his eyes, like shades lowered over windows. When he opened them, the otherworldly glimmer was extinguished. The desire, however, remained evident and raw. 

“Then we should leave now.”

He extended his hand to me, closed his fingers around mine once my palm settled into his, and led us toward the door.  

The sensation of being watched gnawed at me. I felt it as we left the museum, but it grew increasingly hard to focus with Lachlan’s thumb making lazy circular...
