“You’ve seen the banners.”

“I received an invite several months back.” With her look of surprise I allowed the smile to finally surface. “I make periodical donations to many historical museums. The Field Museum of Chicago being one of my favorites is among them.” 

“You’re kidding.”

“No. This is not my first visit to the city. Truth be told, it is one of my favorites. A city I often call home during the summer months when I can dock my boat in the harbor. I am a little surprised that you are attending the event.”

Her near smirk reversed into a full frown. “I don’t seem cultured enough for you?”

“I assure you, that is not what I meant.”<...
