“Bloody hell.”

I caught Veronica’s unconscious body as she collapsed, but only because I moved a fraction faster than Sigmund. He hovered, ready to snatch her from me, but not sure that he should.

“Roni?” Sigmund called his cousin.

“My connection with her has been broken.” I stated.

“Dixon, make sure no one comes in the room. Let’s get her up on the table.”

Benjamin did not vocally reply to Carter’s order, but I caught the brief movement as he circled around to guard the door. Emily picked up her bag and helped Sigmund push chairs out of the way to give me unobstructed access to the flat surface.
