a black satchel on a low altar between the carving’s giant legs. Anger rushed over him like a raging storm. He leapt out from behind the hut and charged. He collided with Darkmoor’s back, crushing him against the carving’s left leg. Darkmoor stumbled sideways and collapsed into a heap on the ground.

A high-pitched sound beeped from atop the altar. Nathaniel turned away from Darkmoor’s slumped body to look into the satchel. It contained six energy cells, black cuboid batteries with rounded corners just like the one that had powered Elizabeth’s viewscreen. These were linked together, with the final one connected by a heavy grey cable to a small steel box.

As Nathaniel looked at it, the thing beeped again, this time drawing his attention to a tiny flashing display on top of the box...
