“Well,” he said in a deep, grating voice, “what have we here?”

He leaned in and examined the strike on Ashidi’s head.

“Heathens, Captain,” replied the guard from over his shoulder. “They were trying to sabotage the power station.”

“Were they now?” the newcomer asked.

He raised a hand towards Ashidi’s head. Annyka tried to lash out at him. The handcuffs held firm, but her sudden movement surprised him into drawing back. He stood up, and called over his shoulder.
