ignored her insult, and opening the front pocket of his pack he took out a white plastic bottle that fit snuggly in the palm of the hand.

“What is that?” she asked as he popped open the lid.

He tipped a couple of cream-coloured pills onto his left palm and then held them out for her to see.

“Antibiotics,” he said.

Her forehead creased up into a frown as she looked at them.

“I don’t want your medicines,” she said.

“You need them,” he replied, putting the bottle away and then holding the pills out to her, along with his canteen. “Maybe your magic can stop bleeding, but I’ll bet it can’t stop an infection.”
