He continues to stare for a beat. I imagine he’s waiting for me to initiate conversation about what just happened and if that’s the case he’s going to be waiting a while. I stare back at him blankly. I have no idea what just happened and no interest in bumbling my way through a verbal dissection of it.

“Well, I guess we better head that way. What are we going to tell them?”

 “Nothing!”   

 “I meant about the letter, Lucy.” He laughs. “Don’t worry. The kiss can be our little secret.”  

 I have nothing to say that won't be potentially mortifying, so I stay silent and turn back towards the bike.  

“How much do you think we should share...you know... eventually?” L...
