It was a street like any other in post-war suburbia USA, which here on the Peninsula, is the Westlake District of Daly City, just south of San Francisco.

It was a neighborhood not unlike one your grandparents might have lived in, or your parents, aunts and uncles.

Like everyone in this community, we lived in a Henry Doelger house, which were tract homes built with identical dimensions inside, pre-cut and pre-fabricated to Doelger’s rigid specifications, but each with a unique color and architectural detail outside, available in a rainbow of colors including pinks, greens, blues, tans, and yellows.
