Follow The Sun

It freaks him out, the subway. He may not ever get used to it. Then again, he may not stay. There are a lot of crazy people in this town and they all seem to prefer the streetcar. When the woman tells him he’ll have to get back on the subway again to get to Wellesley, he laughs. “Oh Jesus I’m going to have a bad time doing that.” It confuses him, yesterday he found himself on the wrong platform, going the wrong way. In the town where he grew up there’s no subway; no bus except one out at County Road 10 and Highway 2. That’ll take you to another town. There’s a train in that other town, but no subway. Jesus how do all these people know where they’re going?
