An act that doesn't better our stand quickly feels like a needless burden, one that can escalate to a nagging responsibility. Power is a delightful reward for responsibility, without it, anything seems futile. If selfless acts are done without the fear of it becoming a redundant responsibility, a lot of such deeds would have been done. This prejudice might be unconscious but it's there. A selfless act is any deed done without expecting any form of reward. It is done purely for the goodness of it.

Responsibility comes with moral questioning. It comes attached with sentimentality. Everyone wants power but not the responsibility that comes with it.
