Anxiety for pay day started two days ago. When the abandoned accountant’s office was opened, cleaned and had the time-book sent in. The accountant, a serious type who barely noticed the presence of other people, was a delight to see for the laborers. The best day on a day job is pay day.

     “When you see the accountant, pay day is only a day or two away” said one of the laborers to his new trainee.

     Only a few could afford to feel miserable about their wages on a pay day. Most workers felt it was a much needed lifeline. A break from being stressed, if not for anything, for that day at least.
