Chapter 18

   “Alice, breakfast's ready,” Delia called down the hall.

   “I'm comin' Mama,” Alice called over the sound of the transistor radio, as she sat at her table putting on her makeup, using a small mirror tilted so she could put mascara on her eyelashes.

   “...seven-fifteen now as KILT gets you ready for work. ...Scooter-BEEP BEEP Morgan playin' all the hits. It's clear and forty-six chilly degrees with a forty percent chance for rain, so don't forget your raincoat. Today’s high will reach fifty-three on the Fahrenheit scale.”

   “Much More Music...on Six-Ten K-I-L-T” sang the chorus on a jingle.
