Chapter 17

   Dennis swung the Nomad off Shepherd onto 25th Street and drove slowly past the Clapboard houses of Houston's Heights. “Truett's got himself a nice place,” Dennis said.  “They're gettin' married in the September,” he went on, “But, remember--keep our secret out of the conversation for now.”

   Alice nodded silently.

   “There it is,” he said, pointing to green house with a two-tone '55 white on blue Pontiac hardtop in the driveway.

   “Will Lee Ann be there?” Alice asked.

   “Not sure,” Dennis said, “She lives with her folks, off of Ella Boulevard.”
