MADDY

A couple about my age had moved in a few years ago.  I’m ashamed to say I paid them no attention, even when I saw that she was pregnant a year behind me.  But now Ally was 4 and starting to ask questions about the neighborhood.  “Look at that neighbor painting the mailbox!”  She said, seeing the woman painting a colorful dragon on the side of the box.  Ally had begun to have a sense of place and wanted everything to make sense and everyone to be friendly.
