Where Has All the Fashion Gone in Paris?

When I began coming to Paris eleven years ago, I was totally in awe of the fashion. Even the average person on the street could and often did look like a million dollars. It was the elegant swoop of a scarf tied a certain way, a belt placed just so around a loosely fitting dress; a pair of shoes which so graced the outfit as to make it sing. Or it was the slant of a classy hat, a gorgeous piece of jewelry or even a matching umbrella. These elements combined with what I refer to as the "Paris strut" were show-stopping. The strut was most often done by the younger gals in high heels when the feet are placed one directly in front of the other in a brisk pace and accompanied by a slight dip with each step.
