Cafe Gourmand in Paris: A Special Treat

There are many cultural nuances in Paris that may delight and surprise Americans. One of these is coffee or cafe (accent on the e) as the Parisians call it. So many social experiences revolve around this rich, dark, strong beverage. Mornings begin with cafe au lait or a cafe creme, a buttery flaky croissant and some orange juice. And both lunch (between 12 and 3 pm) and dinner (between 8 and 11 pm) conclude with an espresso. Years ago during our first trips to Paris, I couldn't stand this strong, bitter cup of coffee.
