Bonjour is more than a greeting; it's more than the start of a note; it's more than a way to begin a blog or a phone conversation.  It seems to me that  Bonjour is the golden key to existing in Paris successfully and finding favor among your collegues or friends.    

We've had several incidents in just the few weeks since we arrived that drive home the point.  The other night Bernie raced up to a worker at an exhibition in l'Hotel de Ville to ask him if it was still open.  He forgot to say Bonjour and three different times, he asked the same question of the man and three different times, the man replied with Bonjour!  Finally, it dawned on Bernie that he had been impolite and pushy.  He laughed,  apologiz...
