For anyone who spends a while in Paris, you will surely wonder as I do how Parisians can be so adept at some things and so unbelievably dysfunctional in others.  I say this respectfully because I adore the city of Paris, but it can certainly be frought with frustrations.  If you go expecting America, you will be downright perplexed!

First, the good stuff!  They are masterful at food preparation and presentation, style, polite service, embracing and preserving history, fascinating and creative architecture (e.g. the new structure at the the Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum), communication systems  (people get Wi-Fi and cell service in the bowels of the Metro subway system).  The Metro itself is a creative, functional transportation masterpiece.
