Pauline Philbey was getting used to police interview rooms. Not being able to speak to Donald May was a worry to her, though. She didn’t trust the woman and she thought the young man was too flippant. Or at least he had been on her previous visit to Hartley Police station.
‘Now Mrs Philbey. You said that you had more information for us’.
The local archivist clutched at her handbag, wishing she had taken out the flask and had a swig before the interview began.
At least I am not a suspect. I really am “helping police with their enquiries”.
‘Is there any news? Is there any news of Donald? I feel it’s all my fault, you see’.
