‘Hard going sir’. Trubshaw grimaced.
DC Charlie Riggs joined the other two detectives in May’s office. The DCI was already on his second coffee of the afternoon. Riggs decided not to speak, sensing that his senior investigating officer was not in a good mood. He always looked out of the window when he was depressed.
‘Coffee, Charlie?’
‘No thanks, Viv, I’m tanked up already. I’ve been drinking the stuff all day while I’ve been catching up on paperwork – paperwork that has led nowhere.
